Intro

Beyond the Logo

Where strategy meets the craft that makes it visible.

Every brief arrives half-formed. The real work is figuring out what the business is trying to become — and then giving that idea a visual language it can actually live in. I treat design as both a craft and a conversation.

I work with independent founders, studios and in-house teams across food, culture and the built environment. My background sits on both sides of the table: the strategic thinking that decides why a brand exists, and the hands-on craft that decides how it looks and feels. Fewer handovers, less lost in translation, and work that stays true to the idea it started from.

FAQ

Common Questions

Quick answers to what most people ask first.

1

Services & Offerings

What kind of projects do you take on?
Brand strategy, visual identity, packaging, editorial and art direction. I also build guidelines and design systems so teams can keep the work consistent afterwards.
Can you help with just a logo?
Rarely, and I will usually say so honestly. A logo without positioning behind it tends to get replaced within two years. If budget is tight I would rather do a smaller, strategy-led piece of work than a decorative one.
Do you design websites too?
I design them and work with a developer to build them. The site is usually where an identity is tested hardest, so it is worth doing alongside the brand rather than after.
2

Process & Workflow

What is your design process like?
Four stages: listen, define, design, hand over. You see work in progress at each one, so nothing arrives as a surprise at the end.
How involved will I be?
More than you might expect at the start, less than you fear later. The discovery stage needs your time. After that it is scheduled check-ins and feedback rounds.
How do you handle revisions?
Two structured rounds are included in a project fee. Feedback is collected in one place and worked through together rather than traded over email.
3

Pricing & Collaboration

How much does a project cost?
It depends on scope, complexity and timeline. Full brand projects start at the figure listed above. Smaller pieces of work are quoted individually.
Do you work with hourly rates?
Not for brand work. Fixed project fees mean you know the cost up front and I am not penalised for solving something quickly.
Do you take on retainers?
Yes, for ongoing design and art direction once a brand is established. It works best when there is a steady flow of applied work.
4

Practicalities

How long does a typical project take?
Smaller pieces run two to four weeks. Full brand identities usually take six to ten, depending on how quickly feedback comes back.
Will I own the final files?
Yes. On final payment, full ownership of the delivered work transfers to you, including editable source files.
Can you sign an NDA?
Of course. Send yours over, or I can provide a standard mutual one.

    Packaging That Gets Picked Up

Shelf is the harshest test a brand ever faces. What separates packaging that sells from packaging that merely looks nice in a portfolio.
